We’re pleased that lots of pupils have been challenging themselves in running events and activities this term. Year 3 & 4 have been out fell running on Friday afternoons. They have been going further each week, making it to the top of Calver two weeks ago and then over to Fremington Edge the following week. With Harker Top lined up for last Friday, they completed the trio of hills around Reeth – a first for our schools and a super achievement.
A team of pupils from Y3 to Y6 did really well at the annual cross country at Richmond School a few weeks ago. It’s a big event with a lot of pupils from local schools. Everyone achieved well and six runners from our schools managed to cross the line in the top eight.
Well done to all pupils (and their parents) that took part in the Friends of School fundraiser relay. Each pupil ran a section of the 6 mile journey between the schools, following the route of the Swaledale Marathon. Parents were left for dust as pupils led the way up the first hill. It was neck and neck at Surrender Bridge, and the home straight down the field to Reeth School was the closest finish we’ve seen. The winning team was home in 1 hour 17 minutes, matching the course record.
There’s a great range of after school clubs available next half term, with after school running (in the dark) on offer for Y5&6. Full details are at the end of the newsletter.
Best wishes to you all for a lovely half term break – the finish line is in sight!
